Second BC-STV television ad asks if voters want fair election results or more of the same
Points out contrasts between BC-STV and current electoral system
Vancouver, B.C. - The campaign to bring fair election results to British Columbia is releasing a second television ad encouraging British Columbians to vote YES for BC-STV on May 12. The 30-second commercial titled "The Choice" lets voters know a BC-STV electoral system is a fairer system and will mean more representation at the local level. This is because MLAs will be accountable to the people who elected them and not to party politics. The ad also describes that voting under BC-STV is as easy as 1,2,3.
The new television ad will begin running on Tuesday, May 5 and will alternate with the first ad, called "Fair Results" which was released earlier in the campaign. It reminded voters of the unfair 1996 and 2001 election results. Both ads will air until election day, May 12.
The ad features photos of real grassroots supporters from around British Columbia who endorse changing the way we elect provincial politicians. The campaign behind BC-STV consists of thousands of volunteers throughout the province who are handing out brochures, putting up lawn signs, hosting community events and spreading the word on the Internet.
A copy of the ad is available for download at www.stv.ca/thechoice.

Fair election results or more of the same?
The current system: designed by politicians, for politicians . and they answer to their parties, not your community.
39 per cent of the vote can give them all the power. That's not fair.
With STV electoral reform, 80 per cent of voters will have one of the candidates they vote for win because you can rank your top choices.
As easy as one two three.
STV: designed by people like us, for people like us.
Vote for fairness ... STV electoral reform.
British Columbians for BC-STV is the official proponent of the single transferable vote (STV) system recommended by the BC Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform. On May 12, in a province wide referendum, British Columbians will choose between the unfair "first-past-the-post" system and BC-STV.
